Position Summary:
We are in search of a skilled and knowledgeable Lead Buyer to enhance our procurement department. The Lead Buyer will be instrumental in vendor qualification, bid evaluation, price negotiation, and managing the procurement cycle for goods and services. This role demands exceptional negotiation abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to foster vendor relationships while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and qualify vendors based on their capabilities, reliability, and product or service quality.
- Analyze bids and proposals from vendors, taking into account pricing, quality, delivery schedules, and inventory levels.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors to secure optimal value for the organization.
- Issue and monitor purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Identify and manage risks associated with supply chain disruptions influenced by market and industry trends.
- Maintain an up-to-date and accurate vendor database, including contact information, contracts, and performance metrics.
- Oversee vendor performance and quality, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior buyers, reviewing their work and offering constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including department heads and project managers, to ascertain their procurement needs and objectives.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain effective vendor relationships.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a strong focus on detail.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools for tracking purchases and managing vendor relationships.
- Understanding of procurement best practices, industry trends, and relevant regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling professional interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a lead buyer or equivalent position.
