Position Overview

Nothing is more fulfilling than witnessing the immediate and tangible results of your efforts in addressing community challenges.

Role Summary

As a Community Restoration Project Leader, you will gauge your impact through the number of safety features installed, injuries prevented, energy efficiency improvements achieved, and accessibility enhancements made for individuals in need.

You will engage in hands-on repairs as part of preparation or final touches for community improvement days.

On project days, you will guide volunteers from diverse backgrounds and skill levels to accomplish a range of construction tasks.

Whenever feasible, you will educate and empower volunteers to acquire new skills and safely apply them on-site.

Key Responsibilities

Perform direct hands-on repairs, including but not limited to: carpentry, tile installation, safety feature installations, accessibility modifications, interior/exterior painting, and energy efficiency upgrades.

Coordinate with contractors or skilled volunteers when necessary to ensure high-quality work is completed within project timelines.

Assist in the procurement and delivery of essential project supplies, including tools, materials, safety equipment, and refreshments.

Support logistics by organizing, staging, and delivering construction materials while maintaining an orderly warehouse.

Conduct home assessments with clients to outline project scopes and collaborate with team members to establish timelines, especially when coordinating with volunteers or contractors.

Supervise general volunteers in executing hands-on repairs.

Ensure that volunteers receive adequate training, have access to necessary tools and materials, follow safety protocols, and produce quality work while feeling valued for their contributions.

Encourage and support volunteers in safely exploring new construction tasks and enhancing their skill sets. Inform homeowners about the repairs completed and any recommended maintenance practices.

Volunteer Orientation

Conduct on-site orientations for volunteers, covering: the history of the organization, safety protocols, homeowner background, and project objectives.


Qualifications
Required
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet navigation
- Ability to engage with a diverse community and staff
- Comfortable presenting to large groups; experience in training or teaching adults is advantageous
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster connections with volunteers
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and adaptable
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse clients, volunteers, and staff to create a welcoming environment

Preferred
- Experience in construction methods, home repairs, and housing challenges
- Background in managing or coordinating volunteers and contractors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or relevant life/work experience

Benefits
Living Allowance:
Full-time (40hrs/week) - $23,500
Part-time (20hrs/week) - $12,441
Quarter-time (12hrs/week) - $6,221

Additional compensation for returning members:
Full-time (40hrs/week) - $600
Part-time (20hrs/week) - $350
Quarter-time (12hrs/week) - $125

Opportunity to attend an optional in-person event with fellow members.

Professional development funding up to $800 per member provided by the organization.
