Position Overview

This is a temporary role focused on ensuring safety in aquatic environments.

Allan Hancock College is currently seeking applications for certified aquatic safety officers to create a pool of qualified candidates.

Aquatic safety officers are expected to monitor and provide lifesaving assistance to swimming participants.

Work hours may vary between 5 to 20 hours weekly, available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Work locations include the Allan Hancock College pool or the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center. Employment is during the academic semesters for Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements

The primary responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing tasks necessary to ensure public safety at the aquatic facility through vigilant lifeguarding;
  • Observing activities within the aquatic facility to avert accidents;
  • Interacting in a friendly, enthusiastic, and supportive manner with students and staff.
Essential Qualifications

Current certification in Lifeguarding from the American Red Cross or an equivalent certification.

  • Current certification in First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers from the American Red Cross or an equivalent certification.
