Job Title: Senior Box Eligibility SpecialistJob Summary:

The Senior Box Eligibility Specialist will work under the general direction and guidance of the Senior Box Supervisor to process clients and distribute boxes of Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) food to a set caseload of qualified Senior Box Program clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process clients to receive a Senior Box Program package, verifying IDs, program status, and re-certifying existing clients.
  • Enroll new participants according to age and income guidelines, collecting signatures electronically through the database program Link2Feed.
  • Issue Senior Box Program box tickets and cheese to eligible participants, referring non-eligible participants to alternative Houston Food Bank programs and services.
  • Direct and advise clients when needed, helping in the planning, scheduling, and execution of the distribution at sites.
  • Participate in distributions at site distributions to ensure that clients have an excellent distribution experience.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate and 1+ years of community program experience.
  • Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and insurance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn new software systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Strong ethical character.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Strong customer service skills and willingness to assist others.
  • Able to work cooperatively and coordinate well with other departments, personnel, volunteers, and clients.
  • Strong time-management skills, self-starter, self-motivated.

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on and adapt to multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Bi-lingual English and/or Vietnamese preferred.
Work Environment:

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a focus on providing excellent customer service to clients. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

Travel Requirements:

Travel is required for this position, with up to 95% of the time spent at various Multi-Service Centers and senior housing facilities located in economically challenged neighborhoods throughout the Houston Food Bank's client service area.
