Job Purpose and Mission

As a Licensed Practical Nurse at Baton Rouge General, you will play a vital role in administering nursing care to designated residents under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Your primary responsibility will be to perform a variety of direct and indirect resident care duties in accordance with the needs of the age population served, as defined in the facility's scope of service.

Job Functions

The following are the essential job functions of this position:

  • Completes the Nursing and Nutritional Assessment.

Performance standards for this function include:

  • Assessment data will be completed within twenty-four hours of admission, as observed by chart review.

The following are additional job functions:

  • Performs resident care according to standards of care and the needs of the resident.

Performance standards for this function include:

  • Identify psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Provides educational groups to the residents.
  • Completes vital signs on assigned residents at assigned times.
  • Completely and accurately documents medication administration, treatments, collected data, interventions, and unusual occurrences, as observed by chart review.
  • Administers medications as prescribed by physician.
  • Performs treatments as prescribed by physician.
  • Performs duties of the House Manager if assigned and qualified.
  • Supervise activities of the facility when the professional staff is not on duty.
  • Perform clinical duties only if licensed to do so.
  • Report incidents of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation to the medical director.
  • Identify and respond to and report any crisis to the clinical supervisor when it occurs.
  • Coordinate and consult with Practitioners and the clinical staff as needed.

This position requires the following qualifications:

  • One-year experience preferred.
  • Current Louisiana LPN licensure.
