Position Summary

The role of the Teller is essential in delivering exceptional customer service and fostering strong relationships with clients. As the initial point of contact for customers, Tellers must exhibit outstanding interpersonal skills, precise mathematical abilities, and a professional demeanor. This position involves handling various retail banking transactions, including deposits and withdrawals, while adapting to new technological systems that enhance operational efficiency.

Main Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Teller include:

  • Providing courteous and professional service to customers at both lobby and drive-up service points.
  • Processing deposits by receiving checks and cash, verifying amounts, and ensuring proper endorsement.
  • Executing cash transactions, including cashing checks and processing withdrawals, while confirming signatures and account balances.
  • Accepting loan payments and ensuring accuracy in transaction amounts.
  • Promoting and selling bank products to generate fee income, such as Money Orders and Cashier Checks.
  • Cross-selling bank services and providing customers with information regarding their accounts.
  • Balancing cash and negotiable items accurately.
  • Completing all required compliance training and adhering to relevant regulations.
Additional Responsibilities

Other tasks that may be assigned to the Teller include:

  • Managing combination and key control.
  • Processing night depository and ATM transactions.
  • Conducting internal audits of cash and negotiable instruments.
  • Performing other duties as directed by management.
Working Environment
  • Physical demands include standing for extended periods, sitting, walking, and the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Work is conducted indoors in a clean environment with standard noise levels.
  • Ability to perform under pressure is essential.
  • Potential exposure to security risks, with established procedures to minimize risk.
