Position Details:

Reports to: Assistant Branch Manager

Status: Full-time and/or part-time, Non-exempt (hourly)

Role Summary: The Teller position is vital as it serves as the first point of contact for customers. This role requires outstanding customer service abilities, precise mathematical skills, and a professional demeanor. Tellers play a crucial role in establishing and nurturing long-term relationships with customers through positive interactions. Responsibilities include handling various retail banking transactions such as deposits and withdrawals, and adapting to new technology systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary duty of the Teller is to provide friendly, professional, and high-quality service to customers at both lobby and drive-up service stations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Representing American Bank Montana with courtesy and professionalism while delivering prompt and accurate transaction processing.
  • Receiving checks and cash for deposits, verifying amounts, and entering transactions into the bank's records using an online teller terminal.
  • Cashing checks and processing withdrawals from savings and checking accounts, ensuring signature verification and account balance checks.
  • Accepting various loan payments, ensuring accuracy in amounts due and collecting any applicable late fees.
  • Promoting bank products for fee income, including:
    • Money Orders
    • Statement Copies
    • Cashier Checks
    • Photocopies
    • Stop Payments
    • Gift Cards
  • Redeeming cash items for deposit or cash, such as Savings Bonds.
  • Cross-selling bank services and products to customers.
  • Providing account and product information to customers after proper verification.
  • Balancing cash and negotiable items at the end of each shift.
  • Completing all required compliance training and adhering to applicable regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other tasks that may be assigned to the Teller include:

  • Managing combination and/or key control.
  • Processing night depository, ATM, and cash dispenser transactions.
  • Controlling negotiable instruments.
  • Conducting internal audits of cash and negotiable instruments.
  • Performing other duties as directed.

Working Environment:

  • Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, sitting, walking, and the ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. at waist height and 20 lbs. at shoulder height.
  • The work environment is indoors, characterized by a clean atmosphere and normal noise levels.
  • Ability to work under pressure is essential.
  • Exposure to potential hazards, such as robbery, with detailed instructions provided to minimize risks.
