Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate leader to serve as Vice President of the Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) at the ASPCA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the CRC, leading a team of over 50 staff members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality animal care and welfare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the CRC, including animal care, behavior, and medical services.
  • Lead a team of over 50 staff members, including senior directors, managers, and animal care professionals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve animal welfare outcomes and ensure compliance with ASPCA policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other ASPCA teams, including shelter medicine, behavioral sciences, and veterinary forensics, to ensure seamless operations and effective case management.
  • Manage a substantial budget, overseeing financial planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including law enforcement, animal welfare organizations, and community groups.
  • Represent the ASPCA in media interviews and public speaking engagements, promoting the organization's mission and values.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience leading a large team and overseeing a multifaceted program.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a substantial, complex budget.
  • Experience working as a leader in an animal shelter and thorough animal welfare knowledge required.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with staff, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
  • Fluent in Internet usage and in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CAWA designation preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • IS 700, 800, and ICS100 and 200 preferred; must have training in Incident Command System basics within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience serving in an oversight role during disaster response and/or in temporary field shelters is a plus.
  • Experience working with victims of animal cruelty (e.g., dogs from fighting cases, animals from hoarding situations) is a plus.
What We Offer

The ASPCA offers a competitive salary range of $160,000-$175,000, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
