About the Job

The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office is seeking a skilled Mechanic to join their team. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing a variety of skilled mechanical repairs, diagnostic inspections, preventative maintenance, tire replacement and repairs, welding and fabrication, and use of diagnostic testing equipment and modifications to automotive and other machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosis, repairs and adjustments
  • Weld, fabricate and modify equipment
  • Engine performance
  • Perform engine performance tests and repairs on diesel and gas engines using diagnostic tools
  • Plan and organize work independently
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Five (5) years mechanic experience preferably including experience in maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training as determined by hiring authority
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date
  • Physical strength and agility sufficient to perform the work of the classification
