Job Summary

Under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Executive and the direct administrative supervision of the Chief Support Executive or Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF), the Physical Therapist I, CF administers physical therapy treatments and active, passive, restorative, and resistive therapeutic treatment to patients in a correctional facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer physical therapy treatments and active, passive, restorative, and resistive therapeutic treatment to patients in a correctional facility.
  • Work under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Executive and the direct administrative supervision of the Chief Support Executive or Correctional Health Services Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF).
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans for patients.
  • Conduct patient assessments and develop treatment plans to meet the individual needs of patients.
  • Provide education and training to patients and their families on physical therapy techniques and exercises.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient treatment and progress.

Requirements:

  • Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of physical therapy in California as determined by the California Medical Board.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with healthcare professionals.

Working Conditions:

Travel may be required.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
