Position Type: Part Time
Position Summary: The YMCA of Greater Boston is committed to enhancing the overall well-being of individuals and families within our communities. We strive to create an environment of inclusivity, support, and opportunity for everyone. The YMCA Hunger Prevention Programs encompass both meal sponsorship and grocery distribution initiatives. We serve as a year-round food sponsor, providing meals to various locations throughout the city and participating in key nutritional programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Essential Duties: The Program Coordinator will oversee the monitoring reviews mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). This role involves collaboration with the Senior Director of Hunger Prevention concerning responsibilities related to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
- Conduct monitoring visits and evaluations for each CACFP site, ensuring compliance with DESE guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors to provide constructive feedback and technical assistance.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of CACFP and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) operations to support partner sites.
- Assist in the collection of necessary documentation from program sites.
- Participate in required DESE training sessions.
- Facilitate mandatory CACFP training for partner organizations.
- Foster and sustain strong partnerships with affiliated sites.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the YMCA supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must demonstrate motivation, energy, punctuality, and responsibility, serving as a positive role model for children and staff.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential.
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the YMCA is required.
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with children, staff, and the community are crucial.
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for site monitoring are necessary.
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk, and listen. Frequent sitting and reaching with hands and arms are also required. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
This position involves off-site responsibilities, focusing on conducting site visits and traveling to partner locations. A vehicle is recommended for this role.
