Position Overview: The Electrical Estimator plays a crucial role in the preparation of contract proposal estimates across various disciplines. This position involves detailed take-offs on systems, materials, and equipment in accordance with project specifications and plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze proposal specifications and drawings to define the scope of work and the necessary components of the estimate.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to ensure accurate take-offs.
  • Generate estimates by executing a comprehensive take-off of the work scope, utilizing estimating software such as FastPIPE, FastDUCT, McCormick, or ConEst (Intellibid).
  • Maintain organized documentation to support estimate figures, including supplier pricing information, sales brochures, and software uploads.
  • Assist colleagues in other departments as needed, which may involve preparing estimates for different disciplines.
  • Evaluate design alternatives and suggest optimal solutions based on cost-effectiveness, engineering quality, and material availability.
  • Provide assistance to field operations concerning MEP estimates.
  • Possess a solid understanding of current NEC chapters 1 & 2.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or higher education is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating, controls, or engineering related to mechanical construction.
  • Proficient in FastPIPE and/or FastDUCT or comparable estimating software.
  • Familiarity with various disciplines, estimating methodologies, and cost management.
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and capability to meet deadlines consistently.
