With a dedication to excellence and fostering robust agency relationships, our Sales and Marketing division is in search of a property and casualty field territory underwriter. As a field-based underwriter, you will be pivotal in evaluating, assessing, and pricing risks while driving profitable growth for our agency partners in your designated territory.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $152,000 annually. Our competitive compensation package is determined by the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on both company and individual performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Underwriting: Analyzing risks, pricing, negotiating, and making informed decisions on commercial business.
  • Marketing: Selling and soliciting business across all available units within the territory to establish a strong, diverse agency relationship.
  • Territory Development: Leading the territory in strategic plan development, ownership, and execution of enterprise-wide growth and profit, including new agency appointments.
  • Agency Leadership: Building deep relationships with and understanding each assigned agency to create a diverse and profitable portfolio, delivering on our vision to be the best company serving independent agents by consistently being present within agency offices.
  • Providing Leadership: Collaborating with and guiding other field disciplines within designated agency relationships to ensure their success through communication, support, and teamwork.
  • Market Research: Staying informed on industry trends, market conditions, emerging risks, primary competitors, and effectively communicating and making informed decisions based on this information.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Willingness to travel and visit agencies within the territory regularly.
  • Strategic business plan development skills.
  • A passion for leadership.
  • A valid driver's license.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven experience in underwriting, with a minimum of 2 years in commercial underwriting; more than 3 years preferred.
  • Relevant insurance industry certifications (e.g., Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), professional selling) are advantageous.
