Job Description

This role is essential for the upkeep and cleanliness of the facilities managed by Vaughn-Blumberg Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Empty and sanitize waste containers; replace liners as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in restrooms; ensure supplies are adequately stocked.
  • Keep lobbies and communal areas tidy and presentable.
  • Thoroughly clean classrooms and educational spaces.
  • Perform floor maintenance including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, polishing, and vacuuming.
  • Dust and polish furniture, blinds, and window sills to maintain a neat appearance.
  • Prepare rooms for meetings and events as required.
  • Wash windows, walls, and baseboards to ensure a clean environment.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and restock as necessary.
  • Clear breezeways and outdoor areas of debris.
  • Handle various floor surfaces with appropriate cleaning methods.
  • Report maintenance and repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Address spills promptly to maintain safety and cleanliness.
  • Manage flag duties as required.
  • Maintain certifications in CPR and First Aid.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned that align with job responsibilities.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
  • Familiarity with various cleaning agents and their proper usage.
  • Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor strippers, buffers, and burnishers.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and prioritize tasks effectively.

Supervision:

The Facilities Technician will oversee and delegate tasks based on general guidelines, with periodic reviews of completed work to ensure compliance with established standards.

Work Environment:

This position involves performing custodial duties in public spaces, contributing to the overall cleanliness and appeal of the facilities.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must be able to perform essential functions, which may include sitting, standing, bending, and walking. The role requires the ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting of heavier items. Vision requirements include the ability to see at various distances and adjust focus as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with the ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Experience in custodial work or a related field, typically gained through an apprenticeship or similar role.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
