Position Overview

This role is designated for a senior electrical engineer responsible for overseeing operations and maintenance (O&M) activities at a military facility. The individual will guide a team of junior engineers and technical personnel across various disciplines on extensive and intricate multi-phase projects.

Eligibility
  • Career transition (CTAP, ICTAP, RPL) for federal employees classified as "surplus" or "displaced".
  • Current or former competitive service federal employees.
  • Current excepted service federal employees.
  • Term or temporary federal employees from land or base management agencies.
  • Military spouses and veterans.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts O&M engineering tasks, including the maintenance, repair, enhancement, and operation of electrical circuits, equipment, and systems within infrastructure facilities, particularly utility systems at a large military installation.
  • Identifies both short-term and long-term needs for the replacement of existing complex electrical systems and serves as a consultant on all electrical engineering aspects of O&M projects.
  • Collaborates with engineers from other disciplines and architects; stays updated on emerging technologies to ensure that planned developments remain relevant.
  • While primarily focused on O&M, occasionally engages in construction management, design, and programming/base development tasks.
  • Adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations, ensuring work practices enhance workplace safety.
Qualifications

Conditions of Employment
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Compliance with Selective Service registration for males.
  • Potential for relocation and recruitment incentives.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • A valid driver's license may be necessary.
  • May serve as the Base Energy Conservation Manager or Traffic Manager.
  • Participation in project liaison activities with design agencies may be required.
  • This position is subject to random drug testing.
Educational Requirements

To qualify, candidates must possess a degree in engineering from an accredited institution, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of engineering principles.

Specialized Experience

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at a comparable level, showcasing knowledge of electrical engineering concepts and practices applicable to complex facilities engineering assignments.

Skills and Abilities

Candidates will be evaluated based on their knowledge of electrical engineering principles, ability to conduct site surveys, and capacity to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats.
