Position Overview

The primary function of this role is to act as a senior electrical systems engineer, executing operations and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities to support a military facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of junior engineers and technical personnel across various disciplines on extensive and intricate multi-phase projects.
  • Conduct O&M engineering tasks that involve the upkeep, repair, enhancement, and operation of electrical circuits, equipment, and systems within infrastructure facilities, including utility systems.
  • Assess both short-term and long-term needs for the replacement of existing complex electrical systems and equipment.
  • Serve as a consultant on all electrical engineering facets of O&M projects, providing support to various trades and crafts shops.
  • Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines and architects to ensure project coordination and integration.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies to ensure that developments remain relevant and effective.
  • On occasion, engage in construction management, design, and programming/base development tasks.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a safe work environment.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a degree in engineering, with a focus on electrical engineering, and meet the specialized experience requirements as outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards.

Basic Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional registration or licensure as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or a Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred.
Specialized Experience

Applicants should have at least one year of specialized experience at a comparable level, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices applicable to complex facilities engineering assignments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical engineering concepts and extensive familiarity with related engineering disciplines.
  • Understanding of contracting regulations and procedures.
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and inspections, analyze and interpret regulations, and recommend effective solutions.

This position may require occasional travel and the ability to drive a motor vehicle. Candidates must comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.
