Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to function as a senior electrical engineer, overseeing operations and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities for a military facility. This position involves leading a team of junior engineers and technical personnel across various disciplines on extensive and intricate multi-phase projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts O&M engineering tasks related to the upkeep, repair, enhancement, and operation of electrical circuits, devices, and systems within infrastructure facilities, including utility systems at a large military installation, utilizing advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles.
  • Assesses both short-term and long-term needs for the replacement of existing complex electrical systems and equipment; acts as a consultant on all electrical engineering aspects of O&M projects and provides essential support to trades and crafts teams.
  • Collaborates with engineers from other disciplines and architects; stays informed about emerging technologies to ensure that planned developments remain relevant and effective.
  • While primarily focused on O&M, may also engage in construction management, design, and programming/base development tasks on an occasional basis.
  • Adheres to health, safety, and environmental regulations, performing work in a manner that promotes a safe working environment.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the specialized experience requirements outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions.

Basic Requirement: Degree: Engineering. The program must lead to a bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering school or include advanced courses in various engineering sciences.

Combination of Experience and Education: A blend of education and experience that provides a thorough understanding of engineering principles and practices.

Specialized Experience: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience at a comparable level, demonstrating knowledge of electrical engineering concepts applicable to complex facilities engineering assignments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Applicants will be evaluated based on their expertise in electrical engineering principles, contracting regulations, automated data processing systems, and health and safety standards, among other competencies.
