Job Overview

The Event and Competition Manager at the U S National Whitewater Center plays a crucial role in orchestrating all public events. These events encompass a variety of activities, including but not limited to, festivals, race series, film screenings, concerts, yoga sessions, dining experiences, and seasonal programming. This is a full-time, on-site position that is eligible for benefits and reports directly to the Event and Competition Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of all public events, ensuring seamless operations and outstanding guest experiences.
  • Collaborate with various departments to coordinate logistics, resources, and timelines for events.
  • Assist in training and scheduling of staff to ensure adequate coverage for events.
  • Engage with vendors and maintain strong partnerships.
  • Develop engaging event programming that resonates with the target audience and aligns with organizational goals.
  • Supervise race operations, including participant registration, course marking, venue setup, and timing management.
  • Manage event web pages, ensuring content is regularly updated and accurate for guests.
  • Actively engage with the local running, climbing, and biking communities to stay informed about trends and preferences.
  • Handle guest communications promptly and professionally, addressing inquiries and feedback.
  • Assist in managing databases, including data entry and organization of event-related information.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the organization's overall success.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and make independent decisions.
  • Resourceful and solution-oriented in conflict resolution.
  • Outgoing and confident candidates with excellent communication skills are preferred.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during other events as necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend, stand, lean, and kneel regularly.
  • Capability to navigate uneven terrain safely.
  • Must be comfortable working in shared spaces with other staff and guests.
  • All positions require employees to report and work on-site.
