Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and organized Tax Compliance Specialist to join our team at Dollar Tree. As a Tax Compliance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with sales tax regulations and laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exemption Certificate Management: Responsible for reviewing, filing, and scanning sales tax exemption certificates, as well as providing compliant internal exemption certificates to vendors.
  • Sales Tax Research: Conduct daily research on new skus and map them to the correct Vertex Product Code to ensure accurate taxability at the point of sale.
  • Unclaimed Property Support: Assist employees and vendors with unclaimed property due diligence letters and inquiries.
  • Compliance Support: Assist the Compliance team with unclaimed property filings, as well as respond to internal and external customer inquiries regarding indirect tax issues.
  • General Tax Compliance: Provide general tax compliance support, including contacting customers, data entry, report running, printing, scanning, and faxing documents.
  • Special Projects: Work on special projects as directed, including coordination and collection of information.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Skills: Strong PC skills, including MS Office, excellent research and writing skills, excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to analyze large amounts of data and multitask.
  • Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, engaged by a fast-paced environment, and able to handle challenges and tight deadlines with ease.
