Job Overview

Position Summary

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist plays a crucial role in formulating and executing safety and health initiatives. This position is also responsible for providing support during emergency situations, including but not limited to fire outbreaks, medical emergencies, and environmental incidents. The HSE Specialist conducts thorough inspections of safety, health, fire, and emergency equipment to pinpoint safety issues and discrepancies.

In addition, the HSE Specialist aids in crafting and implementing a comprehensive safety program aimed at enhancing safety awareness across the organization. This role includes delivering regulatory compliance and incident prevention training to safety personnel, new hires, contractors, and site staff. The HSE Specialist is also tasked with facilitating the development of compliance programs and HSE policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency situations and serious incidents
  • Assist injured personnel in accessing medical care
  • Manage fire incidents and address fire system deficiencies
  • Handle spills or chemical releases effectively
  • Investigate incidents to determine root causes
  • Oversee compliance programs, including:
    • Blood-borne Pathogens
    • Forklift training and certification
    • Hazard Communication
    • Lock/Tag/Try procedures
    • Personal Protective Equipment protocols
  • Conduct regular inspections of fire systems and safety equipment
  • Maintain an inventory of safety supplies and personal protective equipment
  • Facilitate safety training sessions for new hires and existing employees
  • Support the Emergency Response Team and the Yupo Safety Committee
