Tax Compliance Specialist

The Tax Compliance Specialist will provide administrative support for various areas of indirect tax compliance, including unclaimed property filing exemption certificate process and/or sku research. This position will assist in retrieving data tax filings and payments, audits, financial accounting and other special tax projects. This position requires a high attention to detail, excellent organizational skill and the ability to learn quickly.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for the sales tax exemption certificate process to include reviewing, filing and scanning sales tax exemption certificates, data entry, customer service and research.
- Responsible for timely providing compliant internal exemption certificates to vendors.
- Research new skus daily and map to correct Vertex Product Code to ensure appropriate taxability at the POS.
- Assist employees and vendors on unclaimed property due diligence letters inquiries.
- Assist Compliance team with Unclaimed Property filings.
- Assist Compliance team with inquiries from internal and external customers regarding indirect tax issues.
- Assists with general tax compliance support including contacting customers, data entry, report running, printing, scanning and faxing documents.
- Work on special projects as directed, including coordination/collection of information.
- Embrace change and help establish process improvements.
- High School Diploma or GED and minimum one year of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
- Strong PC skills including MS Office.
- Excellent research and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to details.
- Critical thinker and a high degree of enthusiasm with the ability to analyze large amounts of data and multi-task.
- Self-motivated, engaged by a fast-paced environment and handling challenges and tight deadlines with ease.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience with large business data sets.
