Job Summary

The Associate Director of Engagement and Economic Mobility provides visionary leadership and comprehensive oversight for Family and Community Engagement, and Economic Mobility initiatives within the Child Development Program (CDP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for Family and Community Engagement (Engagement), Economic Mobility through direct supervision and support of department managers.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of economic mobility activities, including Apprenticeship programming, ensuring robust workforce development opportunities and high-quality educational pathways for program participants, promoting long-term self-sufficiency.
  • Align with and work in partnership with the Director of Economic Development and team.
  • Foster and manage community engagement initiatives, building and sustaining relationships with community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, and public entities to expand resource availability and partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team members to set measurable goals, ensuring accurate data collection and analysis that informs program improvements and demonstrates impact.
  • Mentor and guide department managers in monitoring and evaluating parent education and economic mobility programs, ensuring all activities align with program goals and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical assistance in areas of program compliance, operational management, and adherence to state and federal regulations, ensuring smooth execution of services and program objectives.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Office of Head Start Program Self-Assessment Plan, representing the department at agency meetings, task forces, and strategic planning sessions, and alignment with Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Oversee the effective management of budgets, including planning, monitoring, and reconciliation.
  • Foster a culture of shared decision-making within the team, ensuring collaborative problem-solving and active participation in department-wide initiatives.
  • Build an inclusive and supportive environment that values diverse family backgrounds, experiences, and cultures.
  • Ensure services are accessible to all, including families with disabilities and those from socio-economically diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
  • Proven expertise in program management with a focus on family engagement, economic mobility, and community partnership development.
  • Experience managing compliance and reporting requirements for federal, state, and private funding sources.
  • Familiarity with budget planning and financial monitoring systems, including advanced skills in tracking in-kind contributions and program resources.
  • Leadership principles and best practices for staff supervision, including evaluating performance, managing teams, and fostering professional growth.
  • Federal and state regulations, particularly the Head Start Performance Standards, with the ability to interpret and apply these regulations within program operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with nonprofit, educational, community engagement, program services, and/or economic development.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with the ability to relate to a wide socio-economic and diverse group.
