Job Intent and Function

This job description outlines the essential duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Program Manager position at Eastern Shipbuilding Group. The role is responsible for organizing, directing, and coordinating the overall project, assisting with day-to-day program management, and interacting with project employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Program Manager in managing costs and schedules to contract requirements.
  • Develop briefing material and co-chair stakeholder meetings, as well as weekly joint Program/Company meetings.
  • Define program tasks and resource requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to the policies, purpose, and goals of the project.
  • Effectively integrate, maintain, and control project plans and schedules.
  • Identify high-risk areas and present risk mitigation actions to the Executive Management Team.
  • Formulate and review strategic plans and deliverable items, ensuring conformance with Contract requirements.
  • Engage in regular meetings with the project team, both face-to-face and virtually, and provide required reports and documentation to internal and external customers in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, engineering, naval architecture, or construction.
  • Five or more years of experience coordinating, implementing, executing, controlling, and completing specific projects.
  • Understanding of new construction, ship design, large marine system integration, and familiarity with DOD and USCG ship construction programs and contract-related documents.
  • Previous experience in the USCG/DOD/U.S. Navy environment in providing project support to senior management.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP, CAPM) is desired.
