Job Summary

The Front Line Supervisor - Machinery Operations provides strategic leadership and direct supervision to execute Safe, Quality, and Efficient maintenance work. This position reports to the Routine Maintenance Machinery Superintendent and directly supervises Company craft. Additionally, the FLS - Metals executes detailed job plans to stay on schedule for the execution of Routine Maintenance within the Machinery section. This position works with Machinery planning to provide updates on progress of scheduled work to ensure timely and efficient work practices, and optimizes cost savings and work efficiency within work plans and work processes to ensure timely repairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct morning Safety meetings with Machinery Personnel to emphasize the importance of maintaining safe work habits
  • Ensure all safety equipment is available and being used correctly on ongoing work
  • Assign work tasks to Machinery/ Millwright personnel for daily execution of Mechanical repairs and Preventive maintenance
  • Follow up on progress of work execution to ensure timely completions of ongoing work
  • Ensure needed resources are available with Mechanical Planning assigning work
  • Quality checks on completed work to ensure work was completed and left in an acceptable condition
  • Adhere to Established Safety Policies and Procedures to ensure work is executed in the safest manner possible
  • Provide daily updates on status of work in progress
  • Work with Refinery Unit Process Mechanical Coordinators to ensure equipment availability prior to directing resources to unavailable equipment
  • Ensure accurate time keeping and validation of hours worked for Machinery personnel
  • Attend daily meetings for scheduling and other priorities as needed
  • Generate daily reports on status of work
  • Experience and knowledge with Hydraulics, Coke Handling equipment, rotating equipment (i.e. Pumps, Compressors, Gearboxes, Fans, etc.)
  • Refinery or other Industrial facility experience within the Maintenance Organization
  • Supervisor Experience within Refinery or Industrial Facility
  • Knowledge and use of Refinery safe operation procedures
  • Proficient in executing work practices
  • Must be able to work within a team environment
  • Proficient computer skills, including SAP, Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Meeting facilitation abilities
  • Ability to mentor and train others in order provide extended knowledge to the work force
  • Demonstrates strength in communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability in a changing work environment
  • Complete work and projects in self-directed work environment with minimal supervision
Job Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in a refinery/ petrochemical industry
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge / skills in Coke Handling equipment, rotating, and reciprocating equipment
  • Experience and practical knowledge of Planning/ Scheduling and Execution in Maintenance
  • Proficient understanding of refinery process, equipment, terminology, and work practices required
  • Basic computer skills, Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word
  • Ability to work extended hours during the work week and weekends when required
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/ P&IDs required
  • Ability to prioritize multiple task
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience in a union environment
  • Demonstrated strength in communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work within a team environment and works closely with Machinery Reliability
