This dynamic leader will spearhead the company’s fleet safety initiatives by formulating long-term strategies. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to interpret complex data and trends to make informed decisions, collaborating across all business sectors to foster continuous improvement.

This role will report directly to the Vice President of Environmental, Health & Safety Compliance. The position is primarily onsite.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fleet safety strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives.
  • Establish and articulate a clear vision for fleet safety, promoting a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, including DOT and OSHA standards.
  • Lead the formulation of risk management strategies to mitigate potential safety hazards and ensure operational continuity.
  • Drive the continuous enhancement of innovative safety programs and policies that achieve industry-leading safety performance through the adoption of new technologies.
  • Utilize data analytics and industry best practices to create and implement proactive safety measures.
  • Benchmark against industry standards to maintain the company’s leadership in fleet safety.
  • Design and oversee comprehensive safety training programs for drivers and fleet management personnel.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing fleet safety team, fostering a collaborative and achievement-oriented culture.
  • Collaborate with various departments to integrate safety into all facets of fleet operations and company strategy.
  • Act as a key strategic contact for fleet-related emergencies and crisis management.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset, consistently seeking opportunities to enhance processes and outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Transportation Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in fleet safety management or a related area, with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic safety initiatives.
  • Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into strategic actions.
  • Capacity to work in diverse environments, including office settings and on-site inspections.
  • This role requires occasional travel to various fleet locations and the flexibility to respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credential is advantageous.
