The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the administrative and patient care needs of our program and Compassus. This position is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, and retaining volunteers, as well as planning and directing volunteer workload. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise volunteers to support patient care and administrative needs.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer program, including planning, assigning, and directing volunteer workload.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as Compassus policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement the plan of care, promoting the use of volunteers as an intervention to support patient care needs.
- Manage volunteer services, including record-keeping, reporting, and budgeting.
- Develop and deliver training programs for new volunteers, as well as ongoing education and support for active volunteers.
- Communicate effectively with volunteers, patients, and families, promoting positive working relationships and a culture of compassion and respect.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- Experience in social services, human services, or a related field preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
The Volunteer Coordinator will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with frequent interactions with volunteers, patients, and families. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
