The HVAC/Plant Facility Technician is a critical role within our organization, responsible for the operation and maintenance of all plant systems in a cGMP environment. This includes HVAC, boiler, chiller, D.I. water, compressed air, fire sprinklers, water softeners, generator, dust collection, and alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and perform maintenance on facility systems, including boiler and boiler auxiliaries, chiller and cooling tower, air handling units, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Administer chemical treatment systems and follow cGMP standard operating procedures.
- Sanitize systems monthly or as directed by Quality Assurance and maintain accurate documentation and logbooks.
- Procure parts and manage spare parts inventory, schedule project work, and supervise contractual labor.
- Oversee external vendor activities associated with plant facilities and perform annual preventative maintenance inspections and certification of mechanical systems.
- Fabricate and install plant equipment designed by Engineering or outside vendors and provide production support on automated manufacturing and packaging machinery as required.
- A vocational certificate or degree in HVAC/R or similar training is strongly preferred, or 7 years' experience in a manufacturing environment with a vocational degree, or 12 years' experience working in HVAC/R with no degree.
- A 2nd Class B or higher license is required, and previous experience working in a regulated industry is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office products is required, and demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities is essential.
- Refrigerant Transition and Recovery certification is preferred, and awareness of hazards associated with steam, refrigerants, and treatment chemicals is necessary.
- Standing (Moving About): % (Constant). Lift / Carry - Waist or Lower (25 lbs. or less): % (Frequent). Lift / Carry - Waist or Lower (25 to 50 lbs.): 1 - 33% (Occasional). Push / Pull (over 100 lbs.): 1 - 33% (Occasional).
- Exposure to automated machinery: % (Frequent). Exposure to dust: % (Frequent). Exposure to fumes / odors: 1 - 33% (Occasional). Required use of proper safety PPE in a cGMP environment (including use of a respirator).
