Job Summary

Thomas Edison State University is seeking a highly qualified Associate Dean to join the leadership team of the Heavin School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and growth of the school's programs, with a focus on meeting statewide, national, and global industry and organization needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of undergraduate and graduate degree programs and certificates in Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education.
  • Oversee the database infrastructure for the school's programs, including degree audit evaluations, curriculum management, and course equivalencies.
  • Engage in coordinated outreach and support of students to enhance student success and retention.
  • Assist the Dean in overseeing academic policies for the school.
  • Develop and implement business/strategic plans for programs.
  • Review and respond to information from various departments regarding student evaluations, degree selections, and other degree program action items.
  • Gather and analyze data for reports.
  • Assist the marketing office with academic content for school and university publications.
  • Lead the writing and managing of grants to fund the enhancement of the school's programs and curriculum.
  • Ensure the high quality, currency, and relevance of the school's programs through periodic academic reviews and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in an academic discipline in an area of Social Sciences, Humanities, or Education offered by the University.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience as faculty or administrator in a higher education environment and relevant workforce experience.
  • Knowledge of current issues, trends, and opportunities in Social Sciences, Humanities, and/or Education.
  • Ability to work with professional and support staff, and the community at large.
  • Familiarity and experience with CAEP accreditation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the New Jersey K-12 landscape.
  • Experience in developing and managing degree and certificates programs.
  • Ability to work at a distance with students, mentors, and other professionals.
  • Use of technology to communicate, synthesize information, and prepare reports.
