Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will provide clinical-educational support to students with speech-language disorders under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of speech-language pathology principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer direct and indirect intervention for students to assist a speech-language pathologist in the provision of clinical-educational services.
- Transport students to/from testing or therapy area.
- Administer therapeutic treatment protocols written by the speech-language pathologist.
- Communicate with students and other professionals to meet the emotional needs of students.
- Obtain case histories and complete observation checklists.
- Manage behavior using appropriately designed management techniques.
- Summarize and record target behaviors during therapy sessions.
- Complete random moment in time studies as required by MAC program guidelines.
Requirements:
- Completion of an Associate's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting from an accredited institution of higher learning, community college, or equivalent program.
- Evidence of successful completion of a competency test approved by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
- Registration as an assistant with the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists by a supervising speech-language pathologist who is licensed by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists.
Working Conditions:
The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will work in a school setting, providing services to students with speech-language disorders. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality when working with students and their families.
