About the Role

The Senior Associate Director of Foundation at Johns Hopkins Medicine is a key member of our development team, responsible for building and advancing annual and major gift relationships through prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. This role requires effective representation of the hospital to a constituency of community, foundations, corporations, friends, and/or grateful families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic fundraising and development annual work plans, including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Establish and manage a mixed portfolio of major and/or annual gifts.
  • Execute a minimum of 20 gift solicitations per year, including proposals exceeding $500,000. Write, edit, and review proposals for team members and direct reports.
  • Establish and effectively manage relationships with prospects and donors, moving them through the gift life cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Collaborate across departments/divisions to ensure a seamless donor experience.
  • Meet work plan metrics each year.
  • Manage specific priority projects and events, raising $250,000+ and oversee development of programs as needed.
  • Achieve human resources management objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, appraise, and review job contributions. Enforce policies and procedures, ensuring the department is adequately staffed. Plan and review compensation actions and manage payroll records and costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in event planning, fundraising, communications, or related experience, with 2 years minimum project management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft products.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, confidentiality, and public speaking skills.
  • Own transportation for travel to events.
