Aircraft Avionics Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Avionics Specialist to join our team at Amentum. As an Aircraft Avionics Specialist, you will be responsible for performing organizational, intermediate, and limited depot level maintenance on assigned aircraft, components, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of complex avionics/electrical systems and subsystems, communication/navigations, electronic flight control, fuel, power generators, power distribution systems, lighting systems, flight instrument and fuel systems, temperature and pressure indicating, engine and control indications, ATFLIR, Electronic Counter Measure, and RADAR systems.
  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and astute communication skills during aircrew de-brief.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical directives, planning documents, test specifications, technical publications, and procedures, and applicable safety manuals.
  • Work in a hangar/shop/flight line environment, requiring physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
Requirements:
  • Minimum three years' experience.
  • Experience in corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to work all assigned shifts and schedules.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent experience with F-18A-F, EA-18G, E-2C, or MH-60S aircraft.
  • High degree of expertise in aircraft systems, avionics theory, and applications.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft sub-systems, including maintenance parameters, systems operations, limitations, and technical orders.
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls, anti-icing, hydraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems.
Licensing and Certification Requirements:
  • Formal/Specialized Training or Equivalent.
  • Hazardous Waste Communication Training.
  • FOD and TCP Awareness Trained.
  • Security Clearance Awareness Training.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST Program Awareness.
  • NALCOMIS/OOMA Trained preferred.
  • ESD Trained.
  • Support Equipment Operator's License.
  • Collateral Duty Inspector.
  • Egress System Checkout.
  • Plane Captain Qualified Preferred.
  • Aircraft Towing Certified Preferred.
  • Aircraft Brake Rider Certified.
  • Operational Risk Management (ORM) Training.
  • Fuel Surveillance Trained Preferred.
