Aircraft Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for overseeing and assessing all maintenance operations to guarantee that safe and dependable aircraft are delivered in accordance with the latest technical manuals, directives, and instructions relevant to the maintenance program. This role involves monitoring safety, conducting surveillance and spot checks, and performing work center audits as instructed by the Quality Assurance Manager and contract stipulations. Quality Control / Quality Assurance Inspectors will operate under the direct oversight of the Quality Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures adherence to contract compliance by all maintenance activities through audit and surveillance protocols as outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual and applicable instructions. Conducts final inspections of all maintenance tasks that impact flight safety or necessitate certification by an Aircraft Inspector, excluding ejection seats and canopy systems. Investigates safety incidents and aids in the preparation of Engineering Investigation Requests, Quality Deficiency Reports, Hazardous Material Reports, Technical Publications Deficiency Reports, and Explosive Mishap Reports as necessary. Analyzes relevant maintenance forms and deficiency data to identify trends and specific issues. Assists in drafting and developing work instructions, maintenance guidelines, local maintenance requirement cards, and routine correspondence to all work centers detailing maintenance and program procedures and requirements. May serve as a subject matter expert (SME) or training instructor as needed. Responsible for briefing and debriefing Functional Check Flight pilots to ensure objectives are achieved. Aids in the preparation of the Quality Assurance Monthly Data Requirements List (CDRL's). Contributes to the development of weekly, monthly, and quarterly Quality Assurance Control Status Reports for inclusion in reports to the Program Management Office. Operates the NALCOMIS OOMA database information system. Reviews incoming technical publications and directives to assess their relevance to the Maintenance Department. Engages with customers in a courteous, professional, and effective manner. Adheres to and monitors all established general and industrial safety regulations as applicable to the contract, facility, and job responsibilities. Assists as directed to ensure the safety, security, and preservation of government/company-owned equipment. Maintains cleanliness within the work center. Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste, Egress Familiarization, Hydraulic Contamination, Oil Surveillance, tool control, and other NAMPSOP programs. Performs additional related duties as assigned by management. Collaborates effectively with other employees to promote teamwork and cooperation. Will be required to achieve Plane Captain qualification T/M/S as determined by the company.

CLASSIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Possesses comprehensive knowledge of CNAFINST (series), ISO 9110, NAVAIR CD, and Amentum Quality Assurance procedures. Demonstrates thorough understanding of aircraft engines, flight controls, airframes, and accessories. Holds in-depth knowledge of relevant maintenance/technical manuals and publications, technical directives, safety protocols, ground support equipment, and specialized tools. Capable of researching, reading, and interpreting technical drawings. Familiar with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Discrepancy Reporting Program or Joint Discrepancy Reporting System. Proficient in operating the NALCOMIS OOMA database information system. Able to write with clarity and technical precision. Competent in briefing and debriefing Functional Check Flight pilots regarding requirements and expected outcomes. Thoroughly knowledgeable of applicable contractual performance work requirements. Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English and follow verbal and written instructions.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. A minimum of five (5) years of general experience in aircraft maintenance, including at least one (1) year as a Quality Assurance Representative as defined in the COMNAVAIRFORINST (series). Successful completion of Armed Forces aircraft mechanic and/or airframe courses or airframe and power plant technical schools. An A & P license is preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license and meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position. Completion of NALCOMIS (Optimized) OMA Quality Assurance Administration course is required. Must have completed the Aviation Corrosion Control Course. Preferred candidates will have been fuel cell entrance qualified and completed the Confined Space Entry Authority Course or equivalent.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Involves climbing, standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and working in awkward positions. May require lifting weights up to 70 lbs. Requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires hearing within the normal range. May necessitate the use of a respirator.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The working conditions may vary from a standard shop environment with minimal physical discomfort to settings where inclement weather may expose individuals to severe temperature changes, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in high noise environments. Protective clothing or safety equipment may be necessary. Responsibilities may include interpreting Safety Data Sheets and handling hazardous materials and chemicals.

May work in aircraft maintenance hangars or outdoors. May be required to respond to a variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and basic infrastructure. May be exposed to high noise levels from turbine and jet engine aircraft. May encounter fumes or airborne particles; may face electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.

POTENTIAL HAZARDS:

Exposure to high-intensity noise levels, extreme temperature fluctuations, materials identified on Safety Data Sheets, and working around aircraft and machinery.

WORK LOCATION:

Aircraft maintenance shops, hangars, and flightlines. May require travel in support of cross-country rescue operations and detachments of unknown duration.
