Position Overview:

The role involves delivering exceptional nursing support to residents within a long-term care facility, ensuring their rights, dignity, and personal choices are respected and upheld under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer personalized care that fosters each resident's capacity to achieve or maintain optimal physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
  • Be well-versed in each resident's care plan and provide assistance in alignment with their specific needs and preferences.
  • Attend to residents' personal care needs, which may encompass grooming, bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and other activities as required.
  • Uphold the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents during service delivery, engaging with them in a warm and compassionate manner.
  • Understand and advocate for residents' rights, ensuring they are free from restraints and abuse.
  • Promptly report any incidents or signs of resident abuse or rights violations to the appropriate nursing personnel.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, reporting any deficiencies to nursing staff.
  • Safeguard residents' personal belongings and assist in locating any missing items as per established protocols.
  • Monitor residents for any changes in condition or behavior and communicate these observations to licensed nursing staff.
  • Deliver care that preserves skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers and other skin issues.
  • Respond to residents' call bells in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Perform various assigned tasks, including taking vital signs and assisting with daily living activities.
  • Help orient new residents and their families to the facility and unit.
  • Accompany residents to appointments and activities as needed.
  • Document care provided accurately in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols, including proper hand hygiene and disposal of waste.
  • Contribute to a homelike atmosphere that enhances residents' quality of life.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with successful completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant Certification course.
  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification in the practicing state.
  • Knowledge of resident rights and commitment to ensuring a safe and dignified environment for all residents.
  • Current CPR certification from a recognized provider.

Work Environment:

This position is situated within a healthcare setting, requiring regular movement throughout the facility. The role may involve exposure to infectious diseases and requires the ability to work at a video display terminal for extended periods.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include regular communication, vision capabilities, and the ability to perform various physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting patients or objects over 50 pounds.

Shift:

This is a full-time position with a schedule from 3 PM to 11 PM.
