Job Overview

Position Summary
This role is pivotal in fostering the academic and emotional development of children under your supervision, which may encompass infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. The ideal candidate will build strong relationships with families and implement innovative educational strategies tailored to each child's unique learning style.

Key Responsibilities
Core Duties:
- Design and execute weekly lesson plans that incorporate age-appropriate activities to support all areas of children's development as outlined by GELDS.
- Create a nurturing classroom atmosphere that showcases children's learning and progress.
- Exhibit proficiency in assessing young children's developmental milestones.
- Compile and maintain developmental progress reports and portfolios.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for each child's background.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes parental involvement.
- Communicate effectively and clearly.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, including Bright from the Start, Quality Rated, and NAEYC Accreditation standards.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for all children, administering first aid when necessary.
- Participate in monthly staff meetings and additional meetings as required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- A minimum of a Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- At least one year of experience in direct care of young children (ages Birth to 5 years) is essential.
- Must complete a minimum of twenty (20) hours of training annually in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, covering topics such as Curriculum Development, Cultural Awareness, and Reporting Abuse, as directed by the Program Director.

Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit; reach with hands and arms; and engage in activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, squatting, or crawling.
- Ability to lift and carry children weighing between 25-40 pounds in emergencies.
- May occasionally need to drive a vehicle.
- Engage in play activities on the floor or at small tables, as well as outdoors with children.
