The Caleb Brett team offers cargo inspection and analytical assessment services to the global petroleum, mining, minerals, and biofuels sectors.
With solutions rooted in extensive expertise, innovation, and advanced analytical capabilities, we assist clients in optimizing cargo returns and resolving complex technical challenges.
The Petroleum Inspector is tasked with conducting measurement testing and sampling of petroleum products according to client specifications.Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to Caleb Brett safety protocols.
Perform the following duties as specified, along with completing the necessary documentation:
Volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials contained or transported in lines, shore tanks, cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships.
Conduct visual inspections on lines, pumps, manifolds, shore tanks, rail cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships.Complete custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, barges, and ships.
Carry out routine equipment calibrations, verifications, and function checks.
Document and communicate the results obtained, ensuring accurate entries into the appropriate media.
Provide on-the-job assistance and receive training from more experienced inspectors.
Coordinate with terminal, transport, and company personnel to facilitate smooth execution of assigned duties.
Monitor the availability of necessary supplies for the aforementioned processes and communicate any needs to the Dispatcher or Coordinator.
Organize and coordinate tasks to ensure timely service delivery, report submission, and sample collection.Maintain work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional state.
Verify and communicate results, ensuring entries are made into the required media, whether print or electronic, to uphold the validity and traceability of information.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Minimum Requirements:
Basic understanding of mathematics and ability to work in an automated environment.
Willingness to work on an on-call basis.
No fear of heights.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs for shore tanks.
*Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required).
Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days of hire.
Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace.
Willingness to travel as business needs arise.Physical Requirements:
Lifting, walking, standing, reaching, bending, stooping, climbing, squatting, and driving.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials contained or transported in lines, shore tanks, cars, tank trucks, barges, and ships.
Experience with custody transfer surveys of commodities transferred to and from rail cars, tank trucks, shore tanks, barges, and ships.
Experience with routine equipment calibrations, verifications, and function checks.Document and communicate results accurately.
Model Intertek's 10X Energies consistently within the workplace, practicing ethical business conduct.
IFIA certification is a plus.
Previous experience in the petroleum or shipping industry.
Prior experience with a petroleum inspection company.
Shift/Schedule:
Varying shifts including on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Salary & Benefits Information
The base wage or salary range for this position is $22.00 to $30.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
$2,000.00 sign-on bonus for those who qualify.
Clear career progression opportunities toward higher pay.
$2 per hour pay increase after 6 months and successful completion of the TIC inspectors Exam (TIC Council).
40 hours guaranteed with 1.5 pay rate after 40 hours.
