Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Ambe Healthcare Staffing. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the provision of care within our physician department. Your primary responsibility will be to interact with patients, families, and staff members to maximize successful patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for office visits or outpatient procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Obtain vital signs and weigh patients, maintaining accurate records.
  • Update problem and medication lists at each patient visit, ensuring up-to-date information.
  • Assist medical providers with procedures, performing phlebotomy as needed.
  • Check charts for omissions and compliance, maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Maintain sterilization processes for all instruments, adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Make referral and prescription calls, following medical provider orders.
  • Refill prescriptions per protocol and as applicable, ensuring timely completion.
  • Screen calls, including emergency calls, and ensure all necessary release and consent forms are signed.
  • Perform lab testing according to set protocols, maintaining yearly competency.
  • Look up information on the Maine Prescription Monitoring Program, as needed.
  • Perform Medication Prior Authorizations, as required.
  • Prepare electronic charts with all requested information, ensuring patient encounters are well-prepared.
  • Schedule patients for procedures in OR and any outpatient tests, if applicable.
  • Communicate with patients via various channels, including secure messaging.
  • Participate in department quality indicators, contributing to continuous improvement.
  • Collect provider quality data, as requested.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists, including inventory management, samples management, and other monitors.
  • Maintain working knowledge of IMMPACT procedures, policies, performance expectations, etc., as needed.
  • Comply with all hospital policies, as well as State, Federal, and CMS policies of licensing and certification.
  • Maintain medical record privacy and security, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the hospital's mission, vision, and values, as well as service excellence standards.
  • Provide coverage for other DECH/CCH physician offices when necessary.
  • Stay informed and involved by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email, and other appropriate information in a timely manner.
  • Use patient handling techniques as appropriate to the needs of the individual patient, in keeping with the Safe Patient and Handling and Movement Policy.
  • Ensure reliable attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary to meet patient demands.
  • Perform duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Ability to work with the public.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Immunization and injection administration, vision & hearing, phlebotomy.
  • Certified Medical Assisting degree or appropriate training.
  • CMA or RMA certification.
