Job Title: Medical Assistant

HexaQuEST Health, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the provision of care within our physician department.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will interact with patients, families, and staff members to maximize successful patient outcomes. This role requires a high level of organization, communication, and technical skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare patients for office visits or outpatient procedures
  • Obtain vital signs and weigh patients
  • Update problem and medication lists at each patient visit
  • Assist in procedures requested by medical providers
  • Perform phlebotomy as needed
  • Check charts for omissions and compliance
  • Maintain sterilization process of all instruments
  • Make referral and prescription calls per medical provider's orders
  • Refill prescriptions per protocol and as applicable
  • Screen calls, including emergency calls
  • Ensure all necessary release and consent forms are signed
  • Perform lab testing according to set protocols and maintain yearly competency
  • Perform look-ups on the Maine Prescription Monitoring Program
  • Perform Medication Prior Authorizations as needed
  • Prepare electronic charts with all requested information
  • Schedule patients for procedures in OR and any outpatient tests
  • Communicate with patients via various communication avenues
  • Participate in department quality indicators
  • Collect provider quality data as requested
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists
  • Obtain working knowledge of IMMPACT procedures and policies
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and State, Federal, and CMS policies
  • Maintain medical record privacy and security
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the hospital's mission, vision, and values
  • Provide coverage for other DECH/CCH physician offices when necessary
  • Stay informed and involved by attending meetings and reading relevant information
  • Use patient handling techniques as appropriate
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Perform duties in a safe manner
  • Comply with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • Ability to work with the public
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Immunization and injection administration, vision & hearing, phlebotomy
  • Certified Medical Assisting degree or appropriate training
  • CMA or RMA certification
Working Conditions:

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The Medical Assistant must be able to work effectively in a team setting and maintain confidentiality.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Certified Medical Assisting degree or appropriate training is preferred. CMA or RMA certification is also preferred.
