Safety and Security Specialist

The Safety and Security Specialist is dedicated to fostering a secure and protected atmosphere for all individuals within the Inspira Health Network, including staff, patients, and visitors. This role involves both proactive and reactive measures in monitoring and responding to various situations. The specialist is expected to deliver outstanding customer service and effectively engage with individuals experiencing stress or requiring medical support. Collaboration with the Environment of Care committee is essential to promote a comprehensive approach to safety, security, workplace violence prevention, and emergency management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Visitor Engagement: Welcome visitors, assess their needs, and guide them appropriately, ensuring exceptional service at all locations.
- Communication: Answer calls promptly, identifying oneself and offering assistance.
- Visibility and Identification: Maintain a professional appearance in uniform, ensuring clear identification as a member of the Inspira Health Network Security team.
- Coordination: Collaborate with fellow security personnel to respond swiftly to requests for assistance and maintain constant communication.
- Documentation: Keep a detailed daily log of all incidents and events, ensuring thorough communication with subsequent shifts.
- Incident Reporting: Report all occurrences to the appropriate chain of command, ensuring accurate and clear documentation.
- Response to Unusual Conditions: Address any unusual situations or system malfunctions promptly, utilizing work orders as necessary.
- Handling of Patient Valuables: Secure and document patients' valuables appropriately, ensuring proper receipt and storage.
- Law Enforcement Coordination: Notify relevant personnel and document incidents requiring law enforcement involvement accurately.
- Courier Duties: Perform courier tasks as needed, coordinating with on-duty personnel.
- Patrol Documentation: Accurately record rounds and interactions with law enforcement as required.
- Support for Other Duties: Assist with various responsibilities during shifts, including managing unauthorized parking and contractor access.
- Contractor Identification: Ensure outside contractors are easily identifiable and adhere to safety protocols.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with all departments, providing necessary support and services.
- Flexibility: Adapt to unexpected changes in assignments and schedules.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 6 months of experience in security is preferred.
- Experience in law enforcement or private security is advantageous.
- Valid driver's license and compliance with fleet policies.
- Basic Security Officer Certification (IAHSS) must be obtained within the first year of employment.
- Completion of de-escalation and common language training within the first 100 days is required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification is necessary within the first 100 days.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Strong management skills to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
