About the Role

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Distribution and Transmission Systems Standards Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Power Delivery department, you will be responsible for creating, revising, and updating engineering standards that impact all levels of distribution and transmission systems design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal groups to evaluate external suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring material integrity and reliability.
  • Offer specialized expertise in interpreting relevant federal, state, and governing body regulations, as well as expertise in material failure modes and inspection techniques.
  • Support procurement efforts to increase material redundancy and resolve material shortages.
  • Develop and maintain publications describing material specifications and installation procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and governing body regulations and requirements.
  • Lead or assist in investigations into equipment failures, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Pursue, analyze, pilot, and review new technologies for cost reduction, reliability improvement, and wildfire mitigation.
  • Provide field support to address issues related to equipment, standards, and compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Understanding of governing body rules, regulations, and requirements in engineering standards.
  • Understanding of material failure modes and their detection.
  • Fundamental understanding of transmission and distribution system layouts, including key constituent components.
  • Understanding of troubleshooting distribution and transmission outages related to material failures.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information effectively to peers and larger groups.
Additional Requirements
  • For Engineer II level: demonstrated ability to find effective solutions to problems, understanding of pertinent governing body rules, and ability to identify material failure modes.
  • For Senior Engineer level: ability to research governing body rules, identify material failure modes, and communicate technical information effectively to larger external groups.
  • For Senior Engineer II level: ability to competently identify and interpret governing body rules, identify material failure modes, and communicate technical information effectively to company executives.
  • For Principal level: expert ability to identify and interpret governing body rules, identify material failure modes, and communicate technical information effectively to company executives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  • Advanced degree in EE or ME with emphasis on power.
  • Professional Engineering License.
