Terrapin House Inc. is seeking a compassionate and experienced Life Skills Coach to support an individual with daily living skills, personal care, and community integration. The ideal candidate will have a background in education, psychology, or social work, and experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide person-centered direct support for daily living skills, personal care, and community integration.
- Assist with skills training and assistance in areas such as cooking, mobility, communication, and self-care.
- Offer appropriate levels of assistance and supervision based on the individual's needs and abilities.
- Encourage and motivate the individual to take initiative, try new tasks, and overcome challenges.
- Assist with problem-solving and finding solutions to obstacles or difficulties.
- Foster a sense of empowerment and self-confidence in the individual.
- Communicate information consistently by maintaining accurate and thorough documentation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, or Social Work.
- At least 6 months experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably with amputee care.
- Experience working with diabetes and food regimens.
- Sincere desire to work with individuals and demonstrate sensitivity to their needs.
- Kind, respectful, patient, and cheerful demeanor.
