Overview

As a vital member of the Housing Choice Voucher Department, you will engage in a variety of functions related to HCV admissions, voucher distribution, ongoing eligibility assessments, and fostering strong relationships with landlords and program participants. Your primary responsibility will be to assist approximately 400 Housing Choice Voucher participants, ensuring effective program use and financial management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitating effective communication with residents and stakeholders, addressing inquiries, and delivering information through both in-person interactions and phone calls.
  • Managing application processes, conducting orientation sessions, and confirming eligibility requirements.
  • Distributing vouchers, negotiating rental agreements, and overseeing lease contracts.
  • Conducting annual recertifications, managing terminations, and investigating fraud allegations.
  • Providing assistance with income assessments, referrals for support services, and essential administrative tasks.
  • Ensuring precision in data entry, maintaining files, and preparing necessary documentation.
  • Collaborating with other departments for property showings and lease paperwork.
  • Executing clerical duties, maintaining records, and responding promptly to administrative requests.
  • Reviewing financial disbursements prior to release and undertaking additional assigned responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Associate of Arts degree or a high school diploma accompanied by relevant experience in the administration of Housing Choice Voucher Programs.
  • A combination of education and experience that meets the Biloxi Housing Authority's standards.
