Housing Coordinator Job Description

Institute for Community Living (ICL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing life-saving care to individuals in need. We are seeking a skilled Housing Coordinator to join our team in Staten Island, NY.

Job Summary

The Housing Coordinator will be responsible for promoting the attainment of resident permanent housing goals through ongoing assessment of resident housing needs and preferences. This role will involve developing and maintaining relationships with housing providers and the Veterans Administration to identify housing opportunities for residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Find suitable permanent housing in the community
  • Assist in the orientation of new personnel
  • Document efforts to locate and secure housing for residents
  • Develop and maintain community resource guides
  • Serve as liaison to the Veteran's Administration
  • Comply with attendance and timekeeping rules
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate individual paper and electronic case records
  • Attend regularly scheduled clinical meetings and staff meetings
  • Review the staff communications log and make entries
  • Immediately report serious incidents and complete incident reports
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a human service field or related field
  • 2+ years of case management, housing services, or relevant human services experience
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Valid State Driver's ID
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and stretch for long periods of time
  • Ability to effectively use computer software
  • Knowledge of the causes and processes of mental illness and substance abuse disorder
