Help Desk Technician Job Description

At OWN, Inc., we're seeking a skilled Help Desk Technician to join our Springfield team. As a Help Desk Technician, you'll play a vital role in providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to our users, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users in resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Respond to and resolve help desk tickets and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripheral devices, and software applications.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts and access rights in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to deploy and upgrade software applications across the organization.
  • Assist in the setup and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system backups and software updates.
  • Train end-users on basic troubleshooting techniques and proper use of software and hardware.
  • Monitor and respond to IT security incidents, including virus and malware detection and removal.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues and obtain necessary support.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of help desk activities, including issue resolutions and troubleshooting steps.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in technology to provide proactive support and recommendations.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications or equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Proven experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware, software, and network troubleshooting principles.
  • Proficiency in using and supporting Google Suite applications, AutoCAD, and Deltek (or similar project management/accounting software).
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
  • Solid understanding of computer systems, including hardware components, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with IT security best practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively within a team environment.
