Job Description Summary

As a Controller at Taylor Morrison, you will be responsible for leading the finance department, reviewing financial statements, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. You will work closely with the VP of Finance to drive financial management and provide expertise to the operating division and corporate financial organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the VP of Finance in providing financial management expertise to the operating division and corporate financial organization
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting, including accounting, control, audit, and administrative duties
  • Develop and analyze financial information to provide insights to management
  • Prepare forecasts, project budgets, and division budgets in a timely and accurate manner
  • Support the contract and closing process, including contract review and closing documents for customer transactions and land purchases
  • Manage and develop financial and administrative staff
  • Ensure compliance with corporate financial policies and procedures
  • Submit accurate and timely corporate and operational reports
  • Assist in managing information system issues and concerns
  • Provide financial assistance to all functional areas as needed
  • Ensure accuracy of financial reports for assigned entities and subsidiaries
Requirements:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA, active CPA candidacy acceptable
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Seven years of experience in Finance/Accounting
  • Accounting experience, preferably in the homebuilding, land development, and/or construction industry
  • Experience with finance and accounting systems and software
  • Knowledge of cost accounting, specifically in the construction industry
  • Prior experience managing and training accounting/finance personnel
  • Computer literacy, including excellent Excel skills
  • Credit report in good standing
FLSA Status: Exempt

As a Controller, you will have responsibilities such as interviewing, selecting, and training employees, setting rates of pay and hours of work, appraising productivity, handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employees, determining work techniques, planning the work, apportioning work among employees, determining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or materials needed, planning budgets for work, monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance, and providing for safety and security of the workplace.

Essential Functions:
  • Report to Division/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to schedule
  • Ability to oversee direct reports daily and provide guidance as needed
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device
  • Ability to have face-to-face conversations with customers, co-workers, and higher-level managers
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around the work environment as needed
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
