Controller Position

The Controller role at Ferretti Search represents a significant opportunity for an experienced finance leader with extensive expertise in finance, accounting, and auditing. Our client seeks a strategic thinker who, alongside the Chief Financial Officer and finance team, ensures operations are both effective and compliant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide departmental financial guidance for all accounting activities associated with five different funds.
  • Lead the accounting team in monthly close-out and year-end accounting activities.
  • Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to guide financial decisions.
  • Supervise and guide a team of financial professionals, including hiring, onboarding, and training employees, supporting professional development, and developing goals and providing feedback.
  • Prepare and present technical accounting-financial data to management, producing the department's monthly financial statements for executive leadership.
  • Identify and analyze accounting problems impacting audit compliance or department financial status.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Compliance & Grant Manager to establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls.
  • Participate in various department audits and provide information to external auditors.
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by analyzing variances and working with the Budget Manager and CFO.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data to CFO.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends for senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by enforcing adherence to funding requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics for continuous process improvement measurement.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years minimum of combined experience in accounting, public accounting, finance, audit, or equivalent.
  • CPA license and/or auditing experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills.
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and diplomatic attitude.
  • A consistently professional demeanor.
