About the Role

People Serving People is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Early Childhood Education and Program Development to lead our Education Department. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for advancing program transformation, promoting operational excellence, and improving all programs and services in accordance with our mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership: Oversee the Education Department and all Early Childhood Education programs, including seven licensed classrooms and a shelter-based K-12 program.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise, coach, and develop the Early Childhood Development Program Manager and the Center of Excellence Preschool and Learning Center Manager.
  • Compliance and Accreditation: Partner with managers to ensure that our licensed programs remain in full compliance with licensing and accreditation authorities.
  • Program Integration: Bridge our Early Childhood Education programs and promote integration, transformation, and excellence across programs and sites.
  • Program Analysis and Improvement: Continuously analyze program performance and seek opportunities to strengthen instruction, curriculum fidelity, trauma-responsiveness, and cultural relevance.
  • Partnerships and Fundraising: Partner with managers to create and successfully implement annual workplans to aid program transformation and continuous improvement.
  • Staff Development: Invest in staff professional and leadership development directly and indirectly across the department, including training, coaching, and staff development.
  • Financial Management: Lead managers in preparing and managing their budgets.
  • Community Engagement: Partner with managers and other departments to raise awareness of our education programs, notify prospective families of enrollment opportunities, and maintain a sustainable enrollment across all programs.
  • Fundraising and Grants: Prospect for state, local, and other governmental funding opportunities, maximize revenue capture, and complete required funding paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Research and Development: Continually research and share learnings about culturally relevant, local and national sector trends, systems, and policies around Early Childhood Education and Parent Engagement.
  • Policy and Advocacy: Participate in public policy and systems change issue identification and engage in coalitions and other spaces to advance policy around early education and access for families experiencing homelessness.
Requirements
  • Management Experience: 5 years' management experience serving socio-culturally diverse populations in Early Childhood Education.
  • Compliance and Accreditation: 5 years' experience with childcare licensing and inspections, accreditation, and reporting.
  • Program Management: Experience managing eight or more classrooms across multiple sites highly desired.
  • Curriculum Development: Experience identifying, implementing, and ensuring fidelity to Early Childhood Education curricula.
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care principles and the impact of trauma on children who have experienced poverty and homelessness or are highly mobile.
  • Financial Management: Experience developing and executing budgets and long-range plans.
  • Grants and Fundraising: Familiarity with grants and experience seeking and using grants to fund priorities.
  • Project Management: Project management experience. Project management certification is highly desired but not essential.
  • Certifications and Training: Able to complete Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED training within 90 days and maintain it thereafter. Able to pass a DHS background check and a motor vehicle records check.
