About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Metering Services Apprentice to join our team at Enbridge. As a Field Metering Services Apprentice, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our gas metering systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of inspections on meters and metering equipment, including reading meters and inspecting interior/exterior service lines and meters for leaks and/or outside atmospheric corrosion inspections.
  • Operate associated data entry devices and report inspection results required by the work performed.
  • Learn to and perform field service-related work activities, such as installation and repair of electronic monitoring and reading equipment on residential and small commercial accounts.
  • Learn to and perform atmospheric corrosion surveys to identify and report atmospheric corrosion.
  • Learn to and perform DOT inspection and Meter Reading functions.
  • May accompany FMS personnel as they perform their normally assigned duties in the field.
  • May perform other duties such as miscellaneous surveys.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicle, while maintaining vehicle inventory in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Communicate professionally with customers to promote customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED with 0-2 years' direct experience.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • Must be able to pass both the Human Performance Evaluation (physical test) and drug test.
  • Good customer service skills and strong communication skills.
Preferred Assets
  • Mechanical aptitude.
Working Conditions
  • Travel up to 25%.
  • Office Work Environment up to 25%.
  • Work is performed in all weather conditions and environments, including high traffic urban areas as well as rural off-road areas.
  • This is a Safety Sensitive position and will be subject to random drug testing.
Physical Requirements

Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Mental Requirements

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
