School Psychologist Position

Acalanes Union High School District is a public school district located in the beautiful hills of Contra Costa County, serving students in grades 9-12 and offering an extensive adult education program.

Job DescriptionThe School Psychologist will serve as a consultant to counselors, teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians, providing diagnostic, prescriptive, consultative, and counseling services to students.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing diagnostic, prescriptive, consultative, and counseling services at each school.
- Working with the guidance counselor to coordinate guidance consultant services at each school.
- Employing appropriate procedures and techniques in dealing with student adjustment problems.
- Providing reports on the progress of student referrals to involved staff.
- Working with community resources to provide referrals for students in need of educational or psychological services beyond those available in the schools.
- Assisting in the development of inservice education programs.
- Executing other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Services.
The ideal candidate will hold a California Pupil Personnel Services Credential-School Psychology and possess the ability to maintain confidentiality, deal with sensitive student issues, and work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Working EnvironmentThe School Psychologist will work in an office/school site environment, requiring the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform other physical demands of the job.
