Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our school buildings and adjacent grounds. This is a critical role that requires a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform custodial services to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Clean and dust walls, furniture, and equipment
  • Empty and clean waste receptacles
  • Wash windows and clean restrooms
  • Sweep sidewalks and pick up papers
  • Polish metal work and fill paper and soap dispensers
  • Replenish supplies and turn out lights
  • Assist with special events and meetings
  • Report safety and fire hazards to supervisor
Working Environment

The Custodian will work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to weather, extreme heat, and wet and/or humid conditions. The position requires moderate to heavy lifting, bending, and standing for prolonged periods.

Requirements
  • Any combination equivalent to one year of experience in custodial work
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
  • Ability to maintain schedules and provide regular cleaning of facilities
  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
Physical Demands

The Custodian must be able to perform the following physical demands:

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information
  • Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods
  • Seeing to read a variety of materials
  • Lifting and moving office supplies and boxes
