Job Summary
In this pivotal role, you will support the Chief of Emergency Medical Services in executing operational, managerial, and administrative functions. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing all divisions of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), ensuring effective incident command, and delivering on-scene emergency medical assistance. You will also monitor contractual obligations and collaborate with various municipal agencies and fire districts to coordinate EMS activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervise and evaluate assigned personnel, addressing employee concerns, directing tasks, and conducting performance assessments.
• Set priorities for division activities, delegate tasks, and ensure optimal resource allocation.
• Assist in establishing annual budget priorities and monitor fiscal compliance throughout the year.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures, policies, and training programs to enhance operational efficiency.
• Engage with county officials to discuss policies impacting division administration and recommend necessary improvements.
• Conduct internal investigations related to personnel issues and document disciplinary actions as required.
• Foster interagency cooperation by coordinating EMS activities with other divisions and agencies, participating in emergency exercises to assess preparedness.
• Respond to emergencies, providing Incident Command as necessary, and coordinating with other agencies during critical incidents.
• Serve as a liaison between the division and various stakeholders, negotiating contracts and addressing inquiries.
• Oversee the recruitment process, including conducting interviews and making hiring recommendations.
• Prepare documentation for courtroom proceedings and represent the division as needed.
• Attend community meetings and events, delivering presentations and engaging with the public regarding divisional matters.
• Organize staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities to maintain industry knowledge.
• Manage daily operations, including deployment strategies and training oversight for EMS personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety and health protocols as required by contracts and county regulations.
• Monitor dispatch communications to ensure effective response and resource accountability.
• Maintain accurate records of county resources and provide technical assistance as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management Services, Business Management, Public/Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of five (5) years of managerial experience in an Advanced Life Support EMS System or related field.
• Candidates without a degree must have four (4) additional years of relevant experience.
• Valid national registry certification or Florida state license as a Paramedic is required.
• Must maintain valid CPR, ACLS, EVOC, and Instructor certifications.
• A valid Florida Driver's License is necessary.
